Job Summary



The Manager, Visual Merchandising, will lead all aspects of the display development process across all Categories, Brands and Customers.This role will lead the development of our display strategy including; structure and design optimization, impactful imagery and integration of insights and messaging, measuring effectiveness and continuous improvement including cost efficiencies and the identification of best practices.The Manager will lead a direct team including Project Managers and Analysts.The Manager will have a high level of collaboration across cross-functional groups including; Field Sales, Marketing, Shopper Marketing, Trade Marketing, Operations, Planning, Finance, Procurement and third party suppliers.The candidate must be a strong communicator, highly collaborative with strong analytic skills and comfortable working in a team environment.The Candidate will report to the Head of Sales Planning and Trade Development



Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Set strategy and provide input in the development of national and local account-specific promotional display programs
  • Establish standard operating procedures for the flow of work for all displays and processes to address efficient execution
  • Manage profitability standards across all display and packaging request programs. This included planning phase estimates and post event actuals
  • Establish retailer compliance performance standards across brands and display types, with the goal to improve compliance and performance standards
  • Establish guidelines and best practices for the continuous optimization of display processes
  • Lead internal Visual Merchandising Team. Identify and set department objectives, measures for success and timely feedback
  • Lead Internal team individual development and training
  • Lead third-party corporate and project management development relationships
  • Lead collaborative working relationships National Account and Field Leadership
  • Utilize information from a range of sources to understand market trends, competition, channel/customer strategy and brand strategy
  • Establish and manage cross-functional display optimization task forces

Preferred Background, Experience, and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, production, estimating and purchasing processes, as well as construction techniques, sequence of assembly, and the ability to quickly identify inconsistencies and problems that may arise in the manufacturing process
  • Experience in several temporary and permanent materials including litho-lam, single-faced lam, flexo, PETG, thermoform, trap blister, injection molding
  • Familiar with color theory including CMYK, RGB, offset printing, direct printing (flexo), and the ability to quickly determine the impact of various print processes on project quality, pricing, and performance in the marketplace
  • Create and review detailed BoMs and identify potential downstream issues Familiar with common industry production equipment including, but not limited to, Bobst flat bed die cutter, rotary die cutter, offset printing press, flexo printing press, automaton, vacuum forming equipment, heat tunnel, folder gluers, etc.
  • Familiarity with standard corrugate board grades and liner combinations
  • Familiarity with lead times for standard processes, substrates, and other materials/processes
  • Knowledge and familiarity with assembly methods and practices
  • Understanding of tooling costs, cost-drivers, and manufacturing/sourcing practices (both cutting dies and printing plates)

Qualifications



Education:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in Engineering or Business Management required.



Experience:
5 years project management experience required. Experience in the printing & packaging field working with custom corrugated POP displays, chip board containers, permanent and semi-permanent displays, club packs, folding carton and related packaging. Experience pricing and managing change orders.



Professional Skills:
Negotiation skills; proven ability to negotiate with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Conflict management and resolution skills. The ability to problem solve. Excellent written, oral communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.



Role Specific Competencies:

Ability to identify cost-drivers during the quoting process and guide suppliers to adjust board types/print processes/materials usage/assembly for better overall outcomes.Familiar with CAD drawings and ability to identify design flaws, manufacturing challenges.Ability to develop thorough project briefs.The ability to drive cost savings at the project level, as well as, at the total system level.Familiarity with industry-standard SOPs, including ISTA ship test protocols.This position requires extensive use of computer equipment.

Must have a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft business software to include Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.Proficiency with Nielsen or IRI programs is required.Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.Highly motivated, independent worker and thinker, and team oriented.



Special Requirements:
Position is located in Chattanooga, TN. Overnight travel is required 10-15%.
