Arizona Boxer Adult Female in Chattanooga, Tennessee

My story
Hi, my name is Arizona. I'm a large chestnut-brindle and white girl with extraordinary ears who is so ready to go home with the right family. What is the right family? The right family is only adult humans who are calm and experienced with strong, loving, sometimes impulsive dogs like me. It would be just the two or three of us. Kiddos, other pets, and first-time dog adopters are a no-go for me.

I am smart, and a quick learner. Shelter people are working with me and taught me how to Sit, Down, Stay, Heel, Place (go to my bed here at the shelter) and even Shake Hands - paws, in my case. They give me lots of treats - I love treats - praise and petting. As much as I love the treats, I love the praise and petting best, giving them my big grin in return.

I love to wade and roll around in kiddie pools. I love to get belly rubs, though that sometimes makes me excited and I want to do zoomies.

I reflect how people act around me, just like a mirror. If my people are calm, I will be calm - well, mostly. If my people are excited around me, I am really excited back. That's why I'm better in a home with no kiddos who can't always manage their excitement either! The adults are enough. A calm, quiet home with patient people who are experienced dog owners brings out the best in me.

Right now, meeting new people is exciting. I haven't met many in my life. When you and I meet, I will be excited, but will calm shortly. People never really spent time with me before I got to the shelter.

The shelter is also teaching me about crates. You'll want a big crate with a soft bed to help me blend into my new home and lots of treats to help me get into it. It'll also be a place I can go when new people come to our home until I get used to them.

One more thing: my new pet parents will be required to take training classes with me. It won't cost extra. It's just to be sure we understand each other well. I'm still learning how to be a good dog and will be the best dog I can be with that extra help.

Thanks for reading about me. Now, fill out an adoption application. Ask to meet Arizona.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Arizona, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
